Gurugram – On the occasion of World Environment Day, social welfare organization CHETNA (Childhood Enhancement Through Training and Action) launched a special awareness campaign focused on environmental protection. The event was held across 11 alternative education centers operated by the organization in Gurugram, under the theme “Our Earth, Our Future.”
These centers, located in Nathupur, Chakkarpur, Ghata, Climate Tower, Wazirabad, Nirvana, Parla, JMD, Goga, and Ghasola, cater to children from underprivileged communities, offering not only education but also exposure to important social and environmental issues.
During the campaign, children, adolescents, and women were educated on critical topics such as plastic pollution, water and air conservation, afforestation, and waste management. Participants actively took part in a range of activities including poster making, slogan writing, plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and street plays (nukkad nataks) to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Gupta, Director of CHETNA, said, “Protecting the environment is a collective responsibility. Through this initiative, CHETNA aims to sensitize not just children and youth, but also entire communities to become active participants in the mission to safeguard our planet.”
Rajendra Kumar, Program Coordinator at CHETNA, emphasized the organization’s ongoing commitment: “We will continue to engage in awareness campaigns like this, working towards sustainable development and a greener future.”
The event saw active participation from CHETNA team members including Rajendra Kumar, Agrima Verma, Samreen, Rajni, Reenu, Mamta, Meenakshi, Manish, Rajesh, Seema Kumari, and many others who helped make the campaign a success.
