Lucknow : In a unique and symbolic gesture, the Samajwadi Chaurasia community is set to celebrate the birthday of Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav on July 1 by distributing paan (betel leaves) to the public at the SP headquarters in Lucknow.
Advocate Anand Chaurasia, State Secretary of the Samajwadi Party’s Backward Class Cell, announced the plan and said, “Paan is traditionally offered on all auspicious occasions. By distributing paan on Akhilesh ji’s birthday, we aim to mark the day with joy and positive beginnings for the people.”
The Chaurasia community, which has a deep-rooted cultural association with paan, sees this as a tribute not just to their tradition but also to Akhilesh Yadav’s vision of inclusive development.
Speaking to reporters, Chaurasia criticized the current state of governance in Uttar Pradesh. “Crime is rampant, youth are facing severe unemployment, and farmers are struggling. The common man is crushed under skyrocketing inflation,” he said.
He added that the public now seeks a return of the Akhilesh Yadav-led government, which they believe can restart the wheels of halted development and restore prosperity across the state.
The celebration on July 1 will include setting up a special paan stall at the party office, where paan will be served to the general public as a token of goodwill and hope for a better future. “Through this gesture, we wish for happiness and progress in every household,” said Anand Chaurasia.
The event is expected to draw attention not just as a political celebration, but also as a cultural expression of unity and optimism.
