Series filmed partly in Lucknow, delves into dark secrets of an ancient cult
Lucknow: Ahead of its much-anticipated premiere on Netflix, the star cast of “Mandala Murders”, a mythological crime thriller by Netflix and YRF Entertainment, visited Lucknow today, adding excitement to the city that served as one of the key filming locations for the series.
Actors Vaani Kapoor, Surveen Chawla, and Vaibhav Raj Gupta interacted with the media and fans during their promotional visit and spoke passionately about their experience working on the show.
Produced by YRF Entertainment and directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, Mandala Murders unfolds in the eerie and mysterious fictional town of Charandaspur. The story follows an intense investigation into a series of murders linked to a secret society dating back over a century. As the investigation deepens, long-buried truths resurface, pulling each character into a dark web of mythology, ritual, and hidden agendas.
Vaani Kapoor, who plays Investigating Officer Ria Thomas, described the role as one of the most demanding of her career. “The world of Mandala Murders is thrilling, complex, and full of secrets. Ria is caught between deception, danger, and intuition. Playing her required me to constantly balance between vulnerability and strength. It pushed me as an actor to take risks and dive deep into emotion and mystery,” she said.
Vaibhav Raj Gupta, who portrays Cop Vikram Singh, shared, “Every clue in Mandala Murders leads you to an unexpected place. Vikram stands right at the heart of this chaos. Our entire team poured their heart into this series, and it’s a very special feeling to bring this story to the people even before its release.”

Surveen Chawla, essaying the role of politician Ananya Bharadwaj, said, “Mandala Murders is more than a thriller—it’s a mind-bending experience. The characters are layered, and every twist is unpredictable. Ananya is a powerful yet shadowy figure, and playing her has been creatively fulfilling. This story is very close to our hearts, and we hope viewers immerse themselves fully in this world.”
The series also features an ensemble cast including Shriya Pilgaonkar, Siddhanth Kapoor, Rahul Bagga, Raghubir Yadav, and Monica Chaudhary, all of whom contribute to the narrative’s intricate suspense.
Set in a world where ancient prophecies blur with modern realities, the storyline challenges viewers to uncover who the real victims are, who survives, and who dares to stand with the truth.
Mandala Murders promises an unforgettable ride through mystery, mythology, and psychological intrigue, with Lucknow serving not just as a backdrop, but a character in itself. The show is set to stream exclusively on Netflix soon.
