Lucknow : In a bid to empower rural youth with career guidance, vocational training, and self-reliance, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, organized a Career Counselling Fair at Adarsh Satyendra Mahavidyalaya in Mal Block on Wednesday.
The event was held in collaboration with Plan International’s Plan India Chapter and focused particularly on providing young women and adolescent girls from rural backgrounds with insights into diverse career options and linking them to employment-oriented training programs offered by the institute.
Vijay Singh Chauhan, the college manager, graced the event as the chief guest, praising the initiative for offering rural youth a gateway to mainstream opportunities and financial independence.
Speaking at the event, R.K. Pandey (Community Health Officer), Jitendra Pratap Singh (In-charge Medical Officer), Sadiq Hussain (UNICEF Representative), Harinendra from Magic Bus India Foundation, Anil Kumar Srivastava (Director, Jan Shikshan Sansthan), and Programme Officer Pannalal, among other subject experts, provided valuable guidance on various career avenues and training opportunities.
Several reputed organisations including Bank of Baroda RSETI, DDU-GKY, Pratham Foundation, Vatsalya Sansthan, Usha Silai Center, and SR Mangalam set up career counselling stalls to support attendees.
A highlight of the event was the certificate distribution ceremony for 40 beneficiaries of the Assistant Computer Operator training course, conducted in association with Milestone Computer Learning Centre. The recipients were honoured for successfully completing their training.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Shiva Singh, Programme Coordinator, Plan India, along with her team. The fair witnessed the active participation of around 150 attendees, reflecting strong community interest in career development and skill enhancement initiatives.
This initiative marks a significant step toward building a more skilled and self-reliant rural workforce in Uttar Pradesh.
