Brajesh Pathak Elected Chairman of Red Cross Society’s Uttar Pradesh State Branch

Arun Kumar Singh appointed Treasurer; unanimous support through voice vote

Lucknow — In a significant development, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society’s Uttar Pradesh State Branch during the organization’s state election session held in Lucknow. The session also saw the appointment of Arun Kumar Singh as Treasurer, with both names proposed and supported through a unanimous voice vote.

The election proceedings were overseen by Returning Officer Gangaram Gupta, who confirmed that the names of Brajesh Pathak and Arun Kumar Singh were formally proposed by Fatehpur District Chairman Anurag Srivastava. Former Vice-Chairman Akhilendra Shahi seconded the proposal and sought the consent of the assembly, which was granted unanimously.

Addressing the gathering, Brajesh Pathak underscored the vital role of the Red Cross Society in disaster relief, health services, and community development. “The Indian Red Cross Society has a wide operational footprint across the nation, with over 1,100 branches working actively in public health, first aid training, blood donation drives, and awareness programmes aimed at eradicating various diseases,” he said.

Pathak emphasized the society’s commitment to humanitarian principles, stating, “Red Cross promotes fundamental values like impartiality, selflessness, and unity. It plays a crucial role not only during natural calamities but also during times of war and conflict, offering aid to the wounded and prisoners of war.”

He further added that the society’s mission aligns with both public service and nation-building, and vowed to expand its outreach and efficiency during his tenure as chairman.

Former Vice-Chairman Akhilendra Shahi, while speaking at the session, highlighted the key achievements of the Red Cross Society in recent years, citing its contributions during health emergencies and its consistent presence in humanitarian efforts across the state.

With new leadership at the helm, the Uttar Pradesh State Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society is expected to strengthen its impact and continue its service to vulnerable communities with renewed vigour.
