Book on Legendary Poet Wasim Barelvi Released at IIC, New Delhi

New Delhi: A literary evening celebrating the poetry and towering personality of renowned poet Wasim Barelvi was held at the India International Centre (IIC), Lodhi Road, with the release of the book “Jahan Rahega Wahi Roshni Lutaayega”, followed by a mushaira and kavi sammelan.

The book, which captures the essence of Wasim Barelvi’s poetry and life, was released in both Hindi and Urdu editions. The formal release was carried out by Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest, in the presence of distinguished guests.

Several eminent personalities shared the मंच during the programme and expressed their views on Wasim Barelvi’s literary contribution and enduring influence. These included Salman Khurshid, former Union Minister and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court; Abhishek Manu Singhvi, former Union Minister and Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court; Dr Tahir Mahmood, former Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities; and senior advocates Mohd Ashraf and Khalil-ur-Rehman.

Speakers highlighted Wasim Barelvi’s unique ability to blend sensitivity, social consciousness and simplicity in his poetry, describing him as a voice that transcends generations and boundaries.

The programme also featured a mushaira and kavi sammelan, where poets and shayars paid tribute to Wasim Barelvi through their verses, adding to the cultural and literary richness of the evening.

Gratitude was expressed to WBS Foundation, along with Neeraj Jain and Moin Shadab, for organising what was described as a memorable and impeccably curated literary event.

The gathering witnessed the presence of a large number of literary figures, poets, shayars, social thinkers and political personalities from across India and abroad, underlining the global appeal and timeless relevance of Wasim Barelvi’s poetry.
