Lucknow: A day before the Dharma Dhwaja programme scheduled in the state capital, panic spread after an anonymous letter threatening to blow up city schools and key buildings was recovered from the bathroom of Lulu Mall. The discovery prompted the Lucknow Police to issue a high alert and launch extensive checking operations across sensitive locations.
According to officials, the threatening letter stated: “There will be destruction in 24 hours. Save if you can.” The alarming message immediately led to an intensified security response.
CCTV Footage Being Examined
DCP South Nipun Aggarwal said the threatening letter is under investigation. Police teams are reviewing CCTV footage from inside Lulu Mall to identify the person who threw the letter. “Prima facie, it appears to be a mischief by someone. However, we are verifying all angles,” the DCP added.
A thorough search of the mall premises was conducted, but no suspicious object was found.
Citywide Checking Launched
After the threat surfaced, security checks were ramped up at Charbagh railway station, Hazratganj, Kamta, Kaiserbagh bus stand, and other busy public areas. ACP Ganj Vikas Jaiswal, along with Inspector Vikram Singh, conducted inspections around Vidhan Bhavan, Lok Bhavan and metro stations, besides checking vehicles.
In Krishna Nagar, ACP Rajneesh Verma led another police team to carry out detailed checking in crowded lanes and marketplaces.

Security Tightened at Jamboree Event
Heavy security arrangements were also put in place in the Vrindavan area where a Jamboree programme is underway. Police personnel carried out random checks on attendees, while bomb disposal squads remained on standby.
In the western zone, additional forces were deployed at sensitive locations. Religious sites, heritage buildings and public venues witnessed heightened security checks late into the night.
Police on Alert After Delhi Blast
The alert level in Lucknow was already heightened following the recent bomb blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. The state police headquarters has issued a citywide alert, and both police and intelligence agencies are maintaining strict surveillance. Monitoring has also been intensified on social media to track suspicious activity.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with the security checks, assuring that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure safety across the capital.
