Lucknow: A bomb threat email sent to the official account of the district judge sparked panic at the Lucknow Civil Court on Wednesday, prompting an immediate security response and evacuation of the premises.
According to police sources, the email warned that explosive material had been planted within the court premises and instructed authorities to vacate all rooms by 12:15 PM. As the message reached court staff, proceedings were abruptly halted and people rushed out, leading to brief chaos within the premises.
Acting swiftly, Wazirganj Police Station, along with the bomb disposal squad and dog squad, launched an intensive search operation across courtrooms, parking areas, washrooms, and entry gates. The campaign lasted for nearly two hours, but no suspicious object or explosive material was found.
Officials later confirmed that the situation was brought under control, and normalcy gradually returned to the court complex. However, security has been significantly tightened following the incident.

Investigators revealed that the email mentioned groups like Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and Pakistan’s ISI, raising concerns over the sender’s intent. Police are currently tracing the origin of the email through IP address tracking, with cybercrime and surveillance teams engaged in identifying the accused.
Inspector Rajesh Tripathi stated that efforts are underway to locate the sender, and additional precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety of the court premises.
This incident comes amid a series of similar threat emails in recent times, keeping security agencies on high alert.
