Chandigarh, India — In a powerful display of civic responsibility and patriotism, Bollywood actress and humanitarian Alankrita Sahai has joined the Chandigarh Civil Defence as a volunteer. Amid the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, Sahai has stepped forward not just as an actress, but as a public figure willing to take real action for her country, serving as a role model for the youth of India.
Known for her stellar performances on screen and her dedicated social work off it, Sahai has always believed in leading by example. As a proud citizen of India, she has consistently shown up during times of need, reinforcing her reputation as one of the most inspirational young public figures in the country. Recently, she made headlines for her humanitarian work during a lockdown in Chandigarh, where she personally assisted in distributing food and water to the underprivileged.
Now, in a renewed act of patriotism, Sahai has officially registered as a volunteer with Chandigarh Civil Defence, becoming one of the first and only members from the Indian entertainment industry to take such a step.
Speaking about her decision to volunteer, Alankrita said:
“These are challenging times, and it is important to be prepared for any unforeseen situations that might come our way. While there is currently a ceasefire, we must not let our guard down. We all hope for peace and stability, but unpredictability is the nature of such situations. I chose to register with Civil Defence to help in times of emergency and serve in whatever way I can. Chandigarh is on high alert, and I believe it’s every citizen’s responsibility to be of assistance in any way possible.

I have also participated in the training programme with the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), where we are taught how to respond to various emergencies. It is often assumed that only soldiers serve the country, but I believe as citizens we too have a duty. I am honoured to be fulfilling mine. I will continue doing whatever it takes to support my country and its people. Jai Hind.”
Alankrita’s action has sparked admiration across social media and civil circles, with many praising her for walking the talk—combining words with meaningful action. Her decision comes at a time when civil vigilance and public preparedness are increasingly becoming vital components of national security and community resilience.
On the work front, Sahai has some exciting upcoming projects, with official announcements expected soon. As her artistic career continues to flourish, her commitment to public service proves that being a true national icon goes far beyond the limelight.
Kudos to Alankrita Sahai for stepping up with courage and conviction, and reminding us all that patriotism isn’t just a feeling—it’s action.
