Patna/New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Among the notable names, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has been fielded from Tarapur, while Vijay Kumar Sinha will contest from Lakhisarai. Former Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad and State Minister Renu Devi have been given tickets from Katihar and Bettiah respectively.

The BJP is contesting on 101 seats in Bihar this election. The first list also includes nine women candidates, reflecting the party’s stated commitment to increasing female representation, as highlighted earlier by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal.

Other notable nominations include State Minister Nitish Mishra, who will again contest from Jhajharpur, and Mangal Pandey from Siwan. Ramkripal Yadav will contest from Danapur, while Shreyasi Singh is fielded from Jamui. However, Assembly Speaker Nandkishore Yadav has not been included in the list this time.

Commenting on his exclusion, Yadav said, “I respect the BJP’s decision. The party has given me a lot, and I have no complaints. It’s time to welcome the new generation. I will always be grateful for the affection shown to me as a BJP candidate by the people of Patna Sahib, where I have won seven times.”

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are scheduled in two phases, on November 6 and 11.
