Lucknow: The name Bijuriya echoed across the city of Lucknow as the official teaser of India’s first AI–live action female superhero film was unveiled in a grand launch event. The film promises a powerful blend of women empowerment and cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, marking a new milestone in Indian cinema.
The story of Bijuriya revolves around Divya, an ordinary girl struggling with low self-confidence and social discrimination, who embarks on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery. The narrative sheds light on the everyday challenges faced by women, including harassment and inequality. Divya’s life takes a transformative turn when she meets Tej, a courageous and scientifically minded young woman who inspires her to embrace her inner strength. This encounter ultimately leads Divya to evolve into a unique superhero determined to confront social evils and crime while setting a new benchmark for women empowerment.
The film is being directed by Sharib Raza, who stated that Bijuriya will present women empowerment in a modern and innovative format. He emphasized that the integration of AI technology with live-action filmmaking aims to establish a fresh creative direction in Indian cinema.
The lead role is being portrayed by Lucknow-based actress Kanchan Awasthi, known for her strong performances in projects such as Gun Wali Dulhaniya, Bhoot Wali Love Story, Chapekar Brothers, and the television serial Amma. Speaking at the event, Kanchan described Bijuriya as the most distinctive and special film of her career. She shared that although her family was initially hesitant about her pursuing work outside the city, her dedication and perseverance eventually won their support, and today they stand as her strongest pillar of encouragement.
The event was graced by Dinesh Sehgal, co-founder of the Indian Film Academy, who attended as the chief guest. He praised the film’s concept, calling it a compelling fusion of technological innovation and social messaging.
According to the producers, filming will commence on April 1, 2026, with a 30–35 day shooting schedule. Approximately 20 days of filming will take place across Uttar Pradesh, with key sequences planned in Lucknow, Agra, and other prominent locations. Advanced AI tools will be extensively used during production to enhance visual storytelling.
The film is being produced under the banners of Full Frame Films and Jai Shree Madhav Creations. The makers aim to complete shooting by December 2026, followed by preparations for release within the same period.
More than just a superhero saga, Bijuriya aspires to inspire daughters across the country to become confident, self-reliant, and fearless — blending technology, storytelling, and empowerment into one ambitious cinematic vision.
