Invites Chief Minister to 41st Chhath Festival, requests public holiday on October 27–28
Lucknow | The National President of the Akhil Bhartiya Bhojpuri Samaj, Prabhunath Rai, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 23 to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv, one of the most significant festivals for the Bhojpuri community. During the meeting, Rai extended a formal invitation to the Chief Minister for the 41st Chhath Mahaparv celebrations to be held at Laxman Mela Ground, Gomti Riverfront, Lucknow, on October 27 and 28, 2025.
He also urged the Chief Minister to declare October 27 and 28 as public holidays, allowing devotees across the state to participate in the festivities with greater enthusiasm.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured that the government has already issued necessary directives to ensure smooth and grand celebrations across the state. Preparations at the Chhath Ghat, including cleaning, painting, and Madhubani-style decorations, are in full swing to beautify the venue.
Under the leadership of Prabhunath Rai, the 41st Chhath Mahaparv is expected to be a grand and divine celebration, with district administration and community members working tirelessly to ensure all arrangements are complete by October 25, 2025. Special arrangements have been made for the Chief Minister’s arrival, including a dedicated route to the stage to ensure devotees face no inconvenience.

The festival schedule will follow traditional rituals —
- October 25: Nahay-Khay
- October 26: Kharna
- October 27: Sandhya Arghya (Evening Offering)
- October 28: Pratah Arghya (Morning Offering) and conclusion of the festival
The event’s chief guest, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will inaugurate the celebration on October 27 at 4 PM by offering the first Arghya to the Sun God. Several prominent dignitaries are expected to attend, including UP BJP President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh, Energy and Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Amarpal Maurya, and Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharakwal, among others.
The celebrations will also feature a vibrant cultural programme showcasing Bhojpuri folk art and music. Renowned performers such as folk singer Kalpana Patowary (Assam), Gopal Rai (Ballia), and Suresh Shukla (Mumbai) will be joined by over 200 artists performing continuously for 18 hours.
Community leaders including Manoj Singh, Ved Prakash Rai, Sunil Singh, S.P. Chauhan, Suresh Kushwaha, Ramyatan Yadav, Ambrish Rai, Hanuman Yadav, and Awadhesh are actively coordinating the event to ensure a successful and memorable celebration of Chhath Mahaparv 2025.
