Lucknow: Students and faculty of Bhatkhande Culture University, Lucknow, captivated the audience with their outstanding cultural performances during the inaugural ceremony of the 91st Annual Conference of the Indian Mathematical Society (International Meet), organized by the Department of Mathematics and Astronomy, University of Lucknow.
The cultural programme, held in the presence of national and international delegates, witnessed impressive performances by artists from Bhatkhande Culture University, who showcased India’s rich classical music and dance traditions, leaving the guests deeply moved.
Classical Dance Performances
The dance segment began with an auspicious Ganesh Vandana, followed by a traditional Kathak presentation in Taal Jhaptal. The expressive component featured a Thumri “Sab Ban Than Aayi Shyam Pyari”, while the concluding performance was a Tarana composed by the legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj.
The choreography and direction were jointly undertaken by Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj and Dr Ruchi Khare. The performances were presented by students Shailendra Singh, Vallari Narayan Pathak, Jahnavi Pathak, Aadya Tiwari, and Deepu Mandal, who received wide appreciation for their grace and technical finesse.
Vocal Music Presentation
The vocal recital featured Dr Garun Mishra (vocal), accompanied by Vinayak Sahay (sarangi), Mohit Ratna Dubey (tabla), Pradeep Rai (tanpura), and Ashutosh Mishra (tanpura). The ensemble rendered soulful compositions in Raga Gorakh Kalyan, including the devotional bhajan “Re Man Ram So Kar Preet” and “Thumak Chalat Ram Chandra”, enthralling the audience.
The event provided a significant platform for the students of Bhatkhande Culture University to display their artistic excellence while celebrating India’s cultural heritage on an international मंच. The programme was smoothly conducted by Dr Ruchi Khare, Assistant Professor (Dance), Bhatkhande Culture University.
