Bazar Khala Police Crack Down on Deadly Chinese Kite String, Two Kite Flyers Arrested

Lucknow: In a major action aimed at public safety, the Bazar Khala police have arrested two kite flyers for possessing and using banned Chinese kite string, commonly known as Chinese manjha. The arrests were made during a special enforcement drive led by the Station House Officer (SHO) in the Bazar Khala police station area.

Police officials said that a reel of the hazardous Chinese manjha was recovered from the accused. Despite a complete ban, the use of such deadly string continues in some areas, posing a serious threat to pedestrians, cyclists, and two-wheeler riders. Several incidents of severe injuries and fatalities caused by Chinese manjha have been reported in recent times, prompting the police to adopt a zero-tolerance approach.

Officials reiterated that Chinese manjha is extremely dangerous due to its sharp and non-biodegradable nature, which can cause fatal cuts and accidents. In view of recent deaths linked to its use, police surveillance and enforcement have been intensified across the area.

Appealing to the public, the SHO urged citizens not to use or promote banned Chinese kite strings. He also requested people to immediately inform the police if they come across anyone selling or using Chinese manjha. “Those who endanger public lives will not be spared under any circumstances,” he said.

The police confirmed that strict action against violators will continue as part of the ongoing campaign to ensure public safety and prevent avoidable tragedies.
