Bareilly to Get Uttar Pradesh’s First Media Tower, Bringing Singapore-Style Glow to Ramganga Nagar

Bareilly — Bareilly is set to create a landmark in urban innovation with the construction of Uttar Pradesh’s first Media Tower, an ambitious project that promises to transform the city’s skyline, boost tourism, and generate significant advertising revenue. Inspired by the Coimbatore model and global designs such as Singapore’s iconic public installations, the tower will be developed by the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA).

According to BDA officials, the 11-metre-high state-of-the-art Media Tower will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹2.5 crore in Sector-7 of the Ramganga Nagar Housing Scheme. The structure will feature a sloping LED screen, similar to Singapore’s famed “Garden by the Bay” concept, making it a visually striking addition to the city.

The tower will have an eight-metre display area equipped with nearly 5,000 multi-colour LED lights, capable of producing millions of colour combinations. At night, the LEDs will create a spectacular flicker effect, illuminating the area and giving Bareilly a modern, global-city appeal.

The high-definition LED screen will be used to broadcast news updates, information on central and state government welfare schemes, public messages, and commercial advertisements. Officials said the primary objective is to ensure that government initiatives reach citizens directly and effectively, while also creating a prestigious advertising platform for brands.

BDA Chief Engineer A. P. N. Singh said the tender process will be initiated soon. He added that the Media Tower will not only enhance the city’s aesthetics but also emerge as a major attraction for residents, commuters, and tourists. In the long term, the project is expected to generate crores of rupees in advertising revenue for the authority.

The tower will be developed as an “infotainment hub”, complete with a modern control room to manage digital content and media playback. BDA officials believe the Bareilly Media Tower could serve as a model for other major cities in Uttar Pradesh, giving the city a new identity on the state’s urban development map.
