Barabanki’s Mother-Daughter Duo Beat Cancer Together at Max Hospital

Barabanki / Lucknow: In a heartening tale of resilience and medical excellence, 81-year-old Sudha Verma from Barabanki was recently admitted to Max Hospital’s emergency department with severe abdominal pain, intestinal obstruction, and vomiting. A CT scan revealed carcinoma of the colon involving the stomach. She underwent successful surgery without any complications under the care of Dr. Shashank Chaudhary, Senior Consultant, Surgical Oncology, Max Healthcare.

In a remarkable coincidence, Sudha Verma’s daughter had also battled cancer—undergoing laparoscopic uterine cancer surgery just a year earlier. Together, they are now being hailed as true cancer warriors, having supported each other through surgeries and recovery.

Dr. Chaudhary, a cancer surgery specialist trained at KGMU Lucknow and GSVM Kanpur, emphasized the department’s expertise in robotic and laparoscopic surgeries, which offer quicker recovery and fewer complications. Max Hospital regularly performs surgeries for head and neck, oral, breast, and pelvic cancers, often aiding low-income patients through CM and PM funds, making quality cancer care more accessible.
