Lucknow: In a major initiative to strengthen early childhood education, the Uttar Pradesh government organized the ‘Balvatika Navarambh Utsav’ across Balvatika (co-located Anganwadi) schools in the state, creating an exciting and engaging learning environment for young children.
The event, held under the guidance of Basic Education Minister (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh, aims to ensure a joyful and inspiring start to the educational journey of children aged 3 to 6 years.
The formal launch took place at a primary school in Ramchaura village, Sarojininagar block, in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary (Basic and Secondary Education) Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma and Director General of School Education Monika Rani.
Focus on Early Enrollment and Engagement
Addressing the gathering, Sen Sharma emphasized that the 3–6 age group represents the most crucial stage of learning. He stated that the objective of the Navarambh Utsav is to connect every child with schools from an early age, ensuring regular attendance and smoother academic progression. He reiterated the government’s vision of bringing every child between 3 and 18 years into the mainstream of education.
Learning Through Play and Creativity
Monika Rani highlighted the importance of play-based, self-learning, and activity-based teaching methods in fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence among children. She noted that such approaches help develop decision-making skills and encourage active participation from an early stage.
One of the key attractions of the event was the sand writing activity, where children aged 3–4 learned letters and numbers through play. This innovative method made learning simple, enjoyable, and engaging, helping develop a natural interest in education.

Distribution of Educational Kits and Books
During the event, 58 children were given gift hampers containing educational materials and useful items. Senior officials personally distributed the kits, motivating the young learners. Additionally, textbooks for the academic session 2026–27 were distributed to 25 children, marking the beginning of the new session.
Building Strong Foundations
The initiative places special emphasis on increasing enrollment of children in the 3–6 age group and ensuring a smooth transition of six-year-olds into Class 1. Schools are being equipped with print-rich environments, learning corners, and diverse teaching aids to support holistic development.
The event also witnessed active participation from parents, public representatives, and local communities, creating a positive ecosystem around early education.
The Balvatika Navarambh Utsav marks a significant step toward making foundational learning more inclusive, engaging, and effective, laying a strong base for the academic and personal growth of children across Uttar Pradesh.
