Lucknow/Ayodhya: As part of its mission to turn Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath-led government is undertaking an ambitious initiative to upgrade all major religious and pilgrimage sites across the state, with Ayodhya — the sacred city of Lord Ram — at the forefront of this transformation.
According to the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Ayodhya Dham is set to receive a major infrastructure boost with the development of six grand entry points that will double up as modern tourist facilitation hubs. These include Shri Ram Dwar, Lakshman Dwar, Bharat Dwar, Hanuman Dwar, Garuda Dwar, and Jatayu Dwar, each named after iconic figures from the Ramayana.
These gateways will not only serve as cultural symbols but also offer a comprehensive range of services and amenities designed to provide world-class experiences to pilgrims and visitors.
Tourist Facilities to Be Developed Near Gate Complexes
Each of the six entryways will have a dedicated Tourist Facilitation Center (TFC). The largest among them will be at Jatayu Dwar, located along the Ambedkar Nagar Road. Spread over 5.76 hectares, this center will offer an expansive array of tourist amenities.
Other TFCs include:
-
Shri Ram Dwar (Lucknow Road) – 4.91 hectares
-
Lakshman Dwar (Gonda Road) – 4.5 hectares
-
Bharat Dwar (Sultanpur Road) – 2.04 hectares
-
Hanuman Dwar (Gorakhpur Road) – 3.59 hectares
-
Garuda Dwar (Raebareli Road) – 4.98 hectares
Modern Amenities to Cater to All Tourist Needs
The comprehensive plan includes the development of budget and star-rated hotels (2-star & 3-star), tourist lodges, and tourism offices. Additionally, the centers will feature:
-
Art and Craft Galleries
-
Food Courts, Cafeterias, and Restaurants
-
Open-air Amphitheaters
-
Multi-level Parking Complexes
-
Green Zones
-
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations
These facilities will be designed to serve the growing number of domestic and international tourists visiting Ayodhya, especially in the wake of increased interest following the Ram Mandir’s construction.
Additional Infrastructure to Be Developed
Beyond tourism, the government also plans to develop:
-
Toilet Blocks and Sanitation Units (WSTP & STP)
-
Petrol and CNG Stations
-
Boundary Walls and Open Pavilions
-
Advanced Food Courts
-
Modern Parking Structures (MLCPs – Multi-Level Car Parks)
Master Plan Ready, Work to Accelerate
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has prepared a detailed master plan, and development work on these projects will be expedited in the coming months. The initiative is seen as a major step in positioning Ayodhya as a global spiritual and cultural hub, in line with the government’s broader vision of integrated religious tourism.
