Ayodhya Emerges as Hub of Economic Revival and Reverse Migration: Mayor

Ayodhya, India – Ayodhya is witnessing an unprecedented economic revival and becoming a center of reverse migration, driven by the Ram Temple construction and increased tourism, Mayor Mahant Girishpati Tripathi said during the 11th General Meeting of the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation Board.

Citing a survey by the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, the Mayor noted that around 200,000 devotees visit Ayodhya daily, resulting in a fivefold increase in local merchants’ earnings. Growth has been observed in hotels, transport, retail, and small-scale industries, generating an estimated 120,000 new employment opportunities. He credited this multifaceted development to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “Temple Economy” model.

The meeting also addressed civic issues, including waterlogging in areas like Jalwanpura, Janoura, and Madhwa Gaddopur, cleanliness drives, and strict monitoring of municipal work tenders. Saketpuri Colony was officially handed over to the Municipal Corporation. The Mayor emphasized that any tender falling more than 15% below the approved cost would undergo special scrutiny.

Municipal officials were urged to strengthen public participation to maintain top-ten cleanliness rankings. The Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) was praised for monitoring emergency response at 19 junctions, and proposals were made to install statues of Ambedkar and martyr Ashfaq Ullah Khan.

Further decisions included the cleaning of Vidyakund, Sitakund, and Dashrathkund, beautification of schools, timely water supply during Ramadan, and stricter enforcement against negligent sanitation contractors, with payments to two companies withheld for 15 days.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Rajesh Gaur, Municipal Commissioner Jayendra Kumar, elected councilors, officials, and representatives from health and tax departments.
