Ayodhya Emerges as a Global Brand: A New Epicentre of Tourism, Investment and Development

Lucknow: Driven by the transformative policies of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the “Ayodhya Brand” has begun to shine on the global stage—firmly establishing the holy city as a fast-rising hub of spirituality, tourism and economic growth. Since the ceremonial flag hoisting atop the Shri Ram Temple, Ayodhya has witnessed an unprecedented surge in international attention and footfall.

According to official data, nearly 23 crore tourists visited Ayodhya between January and June 2025 alone. By the end of the year, the number is projected to soar to 50 crore, placing Ayodhya among the world’s most visited spiritual destinations.

Ayodhya’s Development Sets Global Benchmarks

The city’s rapid rise is anchored by world-class infrastructure: a modern international airport with a capacity of six lakh passengers, a state-of-the-art railway station, upgraded bus terminals, smart traffic systems, theme-based intersections, and spotless, widened roads. International hotel chains, premium hospitality services and booming commercial markets have completely transformed the visitor experience.

Hotels that once struggled for occupancy now operate at 90% capacity, while even small establishments report daily earnings between ₹40,000 and ₹50,000. Tourists from the US, Europe, Russia and Southeast Asia are arriving in record numbers, turning Ayodhya into a vibrant transnational spiritual corridor.

A Major Contributor to Uttar Pradesh’s GSDP

Ayodhya’s reconstruction began in earnest in 2020, with multiple departments executing an integrated development plan under the CM’s supervision. With rising economic activity, Ayodhya now contributes nearly 1.5% to Uttar Pradesh’s GSDP. Experts estimate that the city’s annual economic output could touch ₹4 lakh crore in the coming years.

Boosting the One-Trillion-Dollar Economy Mission

With flight frequency rising to 30 per day and seamless connectivity attracting businesses and pilgrims alike, Ayodhya has emerged as one of Uttar Pradesh’s most developed and economically active centres. The city is set to play a decisive role in CM Yogi’s mission to make Uttar Pradesh a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2029.

Ayodhya today is not just a symbol of devotion—it is an economic powerhouse in the making, merging heritage with modernity, and spirituality with global investment.
