Awareness Chaupal Organized Under Mission Shakti Phase-5 to Empower Rural Women in Lucknow

Lucknow: As part of Mission Shakti Phase-5, a special awareness campaign aimed at ensuring the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women and children across Uttar Pradesh, the District Probation Office, Women Welfare Department, Lucknow, organized an Awareness Chaupal.

The event, held under the guidance of the District Magistrate and on the instructions of the District Probation Officer, took place at Gram Panchayat Ibrahimpur, Kakori block, and Gram Panchayat Khesarwa Usarna, Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) in Lucknow district.

The awareness sessions witnessed active participation from Block Development Officer (BDO) BKT  Pooja Pandey, Assistant Development Officer, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Anganwadi workers, and women from rural communities.

During the programme, participants were sensitized on critical issues such as domestic violence and dowry eradication. Officials also disseminated detailed information about key welfare schemes run by the Women Welfare Department, including the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana (for widows), and the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (Samanya).

In addition, attendees were informed about essential women safety helpline numbers such as 112 and 1090, encouraging them to seek timely help and report incidents of violence or distress.

The awareness Chaupal served as a platform to empower women with knowledge, foster community participation, and strengthen the mission’s objective of creating a safer and more equitable environment for women and children in rural Uttar Pradesh.
