Awareness Campaign “No Fear of Diarrhea” Launched in the Capital to Prevent Infections

Lucknow – To safeguard citizens against infections during the monsoon season, an awareness campaign titled “No Fear of Diarrhea” is being actively carried out in the city.

On Thursday, an orientation program was conducted for nearly 50 sanitation workers of Saadatganj ward on diarrhea prevention. The session was organized under the Swachh Uday Project by Population Services International (PSI) India and HCL Foundation, in collaboration with the Health Department and Lucknow Municipal Corporation. The program was held at the ward’s municipal office.

The event was presided over by Dr. Geetanjali Singh, Superintendent of Community Health Center, Tudiyaganj, and attended by ward councilor Shiv Kumar Yadav.

During her address, Dr. Singh shared important tips on diarrhea prevention. She highlighted that during monsoon and humid weather, people are at greater risk due to consumption of contaminated water, unhygienic food practices, and lack of cleanliness.

“Washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after using the toilet, after cleaning a child’s stool, and before preparing or serving food is essential,” she said. She also emphasized the importance of administering the rotavirus vaccine to protect children from diarrhea.

Councilor Yadav encouraged sanitation workers to avail government health facilities through the Ayushman Bharat card. On the occasion, zinc tablets and ORS packets were also distributed among the participants.

It is noteworthy that PSI India and HCL Foundation, with the support of the Municipal Corporation, are running the Swachh Uday Project across 26 wards of Lucknow. As part of the initiative, residents are being made aware of proper sanitation, safe water storage, and waste segregation practices to minimize health risks.
