Bareilly: On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, a major sports event will be organized in Bareilly under the ASMITA initiative. The programme is being conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in coordination with Mera Yuva Bharat and Khelo India.
The event aims to promote greater participation of women and girls in sports, encourage fitness awareness, and strengthen sports culture at the grassroots level.
Athletics competitions will be held at Dori Lal Sports Stadium from 9 am on March 8. The competitions will include 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres races along with other recreational activities.
Participants will compete in three age categories: under 13 years, 13–18 years, and above 18 years. Registration will be conducted through an online portal, and age verification will be mandatory for all participants. The competitions will be technically supervised by authorized competition managers and sports officials.

Winners securing first, second and third positions in each category and event will be awarded medals. The competition is completely free and open to women of all age groups.
Deputy Director Pushpa Singh appealed to students and women to participate in large numbers, stating that the event will play a significant role in women’s empowerment, promoting health and strengthening nation-building through sports.
