Asian Champions Trophy win vital – Rani Rampal

New Delhi: Former Indian women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal views the team’s recent Asian Champions Trophy victory as a crucial step toward preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Despite a challenging year, including failure to qualify for the Paris Games, the Indian team claimed its third title, marking a fresh start under coach Harendra Singh’s leadership.

Rani, who retired last month, now focuses on nurturing young talent as coach of the sub-junior women’s team and mentor for Soorma Hockey Club in the upcoming Hockey India League, which will feature a women’s tournament for the first time. Drawing from her own journey, she provides guidance and motivation to young players facing mental and emotional pressures.

Debuting internationally at 14 during the 2008 Olympic qualifiers, Rani uses her extensive experience to inspire others, saying, “If I can succeed, so can you.” She remains committed to supporting India’s hockey future.
