Apollo University and the University of Leicester collaborate to establish CDHPM

Chittoor: Apollo University, in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals and the University of Leicester, has launched the Centre for Digital Health and Precision Medicine (CDHPM) at the Apollo University campus in Chittoor. The center is part of an international effort to drive innovation in healthcare through digital and precision medicine, with a counterpart at the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre at the University of Leicester.

Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, the founder of Apollo Hospitals and chancellor of Apollo University, inaugurated the center, emphasizing its transformative potential for improving disease prediction, prevention, and management on a global scale.

The CDHPM, co-directed by Dr. Sujoy Kar of Apollo Hospitals and Prof. Sir Nilesh J. Samani of the University of Leicester, will focus on addressing global healthcare challenges, particularly those related to multimorbidity, emergency medicine, and cardiovascular care. Dr. Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor of Apollo University, highlighted the center’s role in revolutionizing patient care and setting new standards in precision medicine.

The University of Leicester’s president, Prof. Nishan Canagarajah, emphasized the partnership’s potential to tackle global healthcare challenges and workforce shortages through innovative educational programs.

Additionally, Apollo University plans to offer dual undergraduate and master’s programs with a healthcare focus starting in September 2025, providing students with specialized skills and a global education. This collaboration, stemming from a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding, aims to improve healthcare globally through research and education, offering significant benefits to international health systems.
