New Delhi |  In a move applauded by film lovers and social advocates alike, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta  announced that the film Tanvi the Great, directed by veteran actor Anupam Kher, has been declared tax-free in the national capital. The film tells the heartfelt and inspiring story of a young girl with autism who overcomes numerous challenges to pursue her dreams.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, CM Rekha Gupta said, “I am pleased to announce that the Delhi government has made Tanvi the Great tax-free in the national capital. The film narrates a powerful and inclusive story of Tanvi, a young, ‘special’ girl who remains determined to achieve her dreams against all odds.”

Praising the film’s emotional depth and message, Gupta highlighted its importance in shaping societal attitudes toward inclusion and resilience. “Tanvi’s story is both emotional and inspiring. Our government is committed to supporting such films that reinforce the spirit of ‘nation service’, ignite patriotic values, and awaken the nation’s consciousness,” she added.

Directed by Anupam Kher, Tanvi the Great has received critical acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of neurodiversity and its message of hope. The announcement is expected to boost viewership in Delhi, particularly among schools, families, and social groups who advocate for the rights and representation of people with disabilities.

By waiving entertainment tax on the film, the Delhi government hopes to not only encourage greater awareness about autism but also support Indian cinema that drives social change. The decision is being seen as a strong gesture of support toward inclusive narratives in mainstream media.
