Annual Rose & Gladiolus Show Underway at CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow

Lucknow: The much-anticipated Annual Rose & Gladiolus Show organised by the CSIR–National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) is underway at the Central Lawn, Botanic Garden, CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow, bringing together nature lovers, gardening enthusiasts and researchers for a vibrant celebration of flowers and science.

The two-day floral extravaganza, being held on January 24 and 25, 2026, features an impressive display of roses and gladiolus cultivated by government institutions, private nurseries, students, amateur gardeners and individuals from across the region. The event highlights CSIR-NBRI’s long-standing commitment to ornamental horticulture, floriculture research, biodiversity conservation and public outreach.

The show was inaugurated on January 24, 2026, at 12:30 pm by Prof. Pradeep Kumar Joshi, Chairperson, National Testing Agency, New Delhi, in the presence of Dr. A.K. Shasany, Director, CSIR-NBRI, at the Botanic Garden. The inauguration marked the formal opening of the exhibition for participants and visitors.

Visitors to the exhibition are witnessing a rich variety of cut flowers, potted plants, specimen blooms, floral arrangements, themed displays and floral photography, which are being evaluated under multiple competitive categories. Prestigious honours such as the Director General’s Trophy, Director’s Trophy, various cups, and first, second and third prizes will be awarded to outstanding exhibitors for excellence and innovation.

Over the years, the Rose & Gladiolus Show has emerged as a popular annual attraction in Lucknow, drawing students, families, gardeners, researchers and nature enthusiasts. Beyond its visual appeal, the event aims to promote scientific awareness, sustainable gardening practices and appreciation of floral diversity among the public.

The exhibition is open to the public with the following timings:

  • Saturday, January 24, 2026: 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm

  • Sunday, January 25, 2026: 10:00 am to 5:30 pm

CSIR-NBRI has invited citizens of Lucknow and neighbouring regions to visit the Botanic Garden and be part of this colourful celebration that seamlessly blends flowers, science and nature.
