Lucknow: The University of Lucknow celebrated Andhra Pradesh Formation Day with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy on Saturday. The event, held under the guidance of the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh and Chancellor of the University, took place in the esteemed presence of Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai (if not given, please replace with Manu Khanna — keeping Hindi text — Professor Manuka Khanna).
The celebration, organized at A.P. Sen Hall, began with a warm felicitation ceremony where Professor Anoop Bharatiya honored Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna and seven distinguished guests of Andhra origin with shawls and coconuts as a mark of respect. The guests included Dr. P. Prashant, Dr. Appalla Naidu, and Dr. Naomi Khan, all associated with the Geological Survey of India, Lucknow; Dr. C.V. Rao, Chief Scientist, NBRI; Dr. Shashidhar, Chief Scientist, CDRI; Prof. U.V. Kiran, Head and Dean, Department of Home Science, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU); and Dr. Srijani, from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BBAU.
The program showcased the rich culture, traditions, and heritage of Andhra Pradesh through a series of engaging performances. Prof. Piyush Bhargava, from the Department of Ancient Indian History, delivered an illustrated lecture on the temples and architectural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, which received immense appreciation.
Students captivated the audience with Kuchipudi dance performances, traditional costume displays, PPT presentations, and a quiz competition highlighting the cultural and historical significance of Andhra Pradesh. Two major attractions of the event were the authentic Andhra cuisine served on banana leaves and an art exhibition featuring Andhra-themed paintings and posters, which were highly appreciated by the Vice-Chancellor and guests.

Adding to the cultural spirit, the distinguished guests attended the event dressed in traditional Andhra attire, reflecting their pride and connection to their heritage.
In her address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manuka Khanna emphasized the importance of unity and integrity in a diverse nation like India and extended her heartfelt greetings on the occasion. Prof. Anoop Bharatiya also shared insightful remarks on the history and culture of Andhra Pradesh.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem, marking a memorable celebration of cultural unity and academic camaraderie.
