  • -PM also expresses his gratitude in the reply

Lucknow: A letter received by an ordinary homemaker from Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh from Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents a true picture of a developing India, where government schemes are bringing visible change to the everyday lives of citizens. In response to an emotional letter written by Aruna Shri, the Prime Minister wrote, “Thank you very much for sharing, through your letter, the positive changes that our efforts have brought to your life. The blessings and affection of crores of mothers, sisters and daughters are my greatest inspiration and my greatest strength.”

The Prime Minister’s letter was written as a gesture of appreciation for Aruna Shri’s message, in which she described the positive transformation in her life through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Sharing her experience, Aruna Shri wrote that she was married in 2004. At that time, obtaining a cooking gas connection was extremely difficult. Long waiting periods, personal recommendations, standing in queues for bookings and repeated visits to gas agencies were routine. On many occasions she was forced to purchase cylinders on the black market, adding to both financial burden and mental stress.

However, after 2014, with the launch of the “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana”, the situation changed dramatically. Free LPG connections, mobile-based booking, doorstep delivery of cylinders and direct transfer of subsidies into bank accounts brought a major transformation in the lives of ordinary women across the state, making kitchens safer and daily life far more convenient.

In her letter, Aruna Shri also mentioned a small yet highly significant incident. “One day, while cooking, the gas cylinder suddenly ran out. Earlier, such a situation would have brought all work to a halt. This time, however, a single phone call by her husband ensured that a refilled cylinder was delivered to their home within just 15 minutes, allowing the meal to be prepared on time. She wrote that while the incident may appear minor, such improvements have made women’s lives safer, smoother and more dignified.

Aruna Shri further wrote that the various welfare schemes implemented by the double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh, along with their efficient delivery, have brought fundamental changes to the lives of ordinary people. Her letter reflects the reality of the “New India” that has emerged since 2014—an India often spoken about in government platforms and speeches, and now increasingly experienced in everyday life.

In his reply, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that such heartfelt letters give him renewed energy for national service. Referring to initiatives related to electricity, drinking water, toilets, permanent housing, the Ujjwala Yojana, banking access and the Mudra Yojana, he stated that these efforts are empowering women socially and economically. Expressing pride in a women-led India, the Prime Minister reiterated that the blessings of crores of mothers, sisters and daughters remain his greatest source of motivation.

Aruna Shri’s letter of gratitude to the Prime Minister stands as proof that when government policies reach citizens with the right intent and effective delivery, they go beyond being mere schemes and become sources of confidence, dignity and satisfaction in people’s lives. This, indeed, is the true picture of a developing India.
