Amity University Students Gain Firsthand Insight into Urban Water Management at Bharwara STP

Lucknow— Students from the Microbiology Department of Amity University undertook an educational visit to the 345 MLD Bharwara Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Lucknow  to deepen their understanding of urban water management and modern sewage treatment processes.

During the visit, students toured various units of the plant and observed the step-by-step treatment process of converting wastewater into reusable water. The technical team from SUEZ (OCOP) explained the scientific methods employed in sewage purification and highlighted the plant’s role in urban waste management, water conservation, and advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr. Jyoti Prakash, Assistant Professor at Amity University, emphasized that such exposure programs help students connect with the ground realities of urban infrastructure management.

“These visits equip students to play a vital role in future policy-making and implementation,” she noted.

The students described the experience as both informative and inspiring, underlining the need for more such technical field visits.

Also present during the program were Dr. Rachna Chaturvedi from Amity University, Aksht Saxena, Communication Manager at SUEZ (OCOP), and Plant In-charge Partha Sarathi Nath.
