Lucknow — The Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus (AUUP), hosted a live demonstration on the topic “Contemporary Techniques of Portraiture”, offering students an insightful experience into the evolving artistry of portraiture.
The session was conducted by emerging portrait artist Taijasi Misra, who shared her knowledge and artistic process with painting students. The demonstration aimed to explore various styles and techniques of portrait-making, tracing its journey from ancient traditions to modern-day expressions.
Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Verma, Director, Amity School of Fine Arts, warmly welcomed and felicitated Taijasi Misra with a sapling as a symbol of growth and creativity.

During her presentation, Misra highlighted how portraiture has long served as a mirror to society. “From the earliest known portraits in ancient times to the diverse expressions of identity and emotion in contemporary art, portraiture has not only captured faces but also stories and cultural narratives. The portraits of each era reflect its unique social structure,” she noted.
The demonstration provided students with a hands-on opportunity to understand the fundamentals of portraiture. They engaged in creating their own artworks, applying the techniques shared during the session. The initiative not only enhanced their technical skills but also deepened their appreciation for cultural and artistic expression.
The event stands as part of Amity’s continued efforts to nurture artistic talent and promote experiential learning among its students.
