Amarnath Yatra 2025: CRPF Chief Reviews Security Readiness in Jammu Ahead of Pilgrimage

Jammu — As preparations intensify for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gyanendra Pratap Singh, chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu to assess and review security arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.

According to the  Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the 38-day-long pilgrimage to the sacred cave shrine, situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters in South Kashmir, will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the CRPF stated:

CRPF DG G.P. Singh chaired a key meeting at the Jammu Sector Headquarters to assess the security preparedness for Amarnath Yatra 2025 along with senior CRPF officers.”

The review meeting included a detailed inspection of arrangements to ensure uninterrupted and safe passage for pilgrims. DG Singh, who also visited the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday, carried out a strategic review of the operational preparedness for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. He inspected key pilgrimage sites including base camps and transit camps, evaluating on-ground measures and confirming CRPF’s commitment to a safe, seamless, and spiritually fulfilling journey for all devotees.

The Amarnath Yatra can be undertaken via two main routes:

  • The traditional 48-kilometre route via Pahalgam in Anantnag district (South Kashmir)

  • The shorter but steeper 14-kilometre Baltal route in Ganderbal district (Central Kashmir)

To bolster security, the Union Government has ordered the deployment of approximately 42,000 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), spread across 580 companies. This move aims to fortify both pilgrimage routes, base camps, and other strategic points to mitigate any potential threats.

The annual Yatra draws lakhs of pilgrims from across the country and is seen as a crucial spiritual and cultural event. With heightened security measures and detailed ground planning already in motion, authorities aim to ensure the 2025 Yatra remains incident-free and spiritually enriching for all.
