All Alaska Airlines Flights Grounded Today Due to IT Disruption

Washington: On Thursday, Alaska Airlines announced a temporary ground stop for all its flights, including its subsidiary Horizon Air, citing a technical issue affecting operations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the ground halt, which lasted one hour and ten minutes, ending at 0000 GMT.

The airline reported that an unspecified IT disruption caused the temporary grounding. Alaska Airlines took to social media to apologize for the inconvenience, advising passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. The airline also addressed concerns about booking and app issues, stating that their IT team was working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

During the halt, 71 flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport were delayed, according to local reports. This is not the first time Alaska Airlines has faced such an issue; in July, a similar IT disruption grounded all flights for approximately three hours.

The airline assured travelers that operations resumed promptly once the issue was resolved.
