Alambagh Police Arrest Female Drug Peddler with 700 Grams of Ganja, Crackdown Led by SI Shiv Prakash Singh

Lucknow : In a major breakthrough against illegal narcotics trade in the city, the Alambagh Police—working under the leadership of DCP Central Ashish Srivastava—has successfully arrested a woman for selling ganja (cannabis) in the area. The swift action has been credited to the alertness and prompt intervention by SI Shiv Prakash Singh of Mawaiya Outpost, who led the operation within 24 hours of receiving credible information.

The action was initiated after Alambagh Kotwali Inspector Subhash Chandra and his team received intelligence reports regarding a woman actively engaged in the sale of illegal narcotics. Upon verification, a plan was swiftly devised and executed to apprehend the suspect red-handed.

According to police officials, the woman was caught in possession of approximately 700 grams of ganja, which was immediately seized as evidence. Following her arrest, legal procedures were initiated, and she was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Sub-Inspector Shiv Prakash Singh, who led the charge, confirmed that the woman had been under observation for some time after repeated complaints from local residents. “We had been receiving information about illegal drug peddling in the Alambagh-Mawaiya belt. We intensified our patrolling and surveillance. On confirmation, we swiftly moved in and arrested the accused within 24 hours. We are committed to cleansing our area of such illegal activities,” he said.

DCP Ashish Srivastava praised the efforts of the Alambagh Police, stating, “This arrest sends a strong message to drug peddlers operating in the city. The police will act swiftly and decisively to eradicate drug networks. We encourage the public to come forward and support us in our fight against drugs.”

The police also revealed that further investigation is underway to identify if the arrested woman is part of a larger supply chain or has any accomplices. They have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests in the coming days.

The arrest marks a significant milestone in Lucknow Police’s ongoing anti-drug campaign and is being seen as a proactive and commendable move by the law enforcement authorities, especially in protecting youth from the harmful impact of narcotics.

The accused has been sent to judicial custody, and the recovered substance will be sent for forensic testing. Authorities confirmed that regular anti-narcotic drives will continue across central Lucknow in the coming weeks.
