AKTU Celebrates 25th Foundation Day with Grandeur and Gratitude

Lucknow: Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 25th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and a host of activities that reflected its journey, achievements, and vision for the future. The event, commemorating the university’s Silver Jubilee, took place on Saturday and saw participation from students, faculty, dignitaries, and alumni.

The day-long celebration began with the plantation of 25 saplings, symbolizing 25 years of growth, commitment, and sustainability. A ceremonial water-filling of a “Kalash” followed, underlining the university’s pledge towards water conservation. The festivities continued with a felicitation ceremony, where winners of the Silver Jubilee logo competition were awarded.

In a heartwarming gesture, anganwadi workers from five university-adopted centres were honored with appreciation certificates. Children from adopted schools and the university’s social outreach initiative Parmarth were presented with educational kits, emphasizing AKTU’s growing focus on community engagement and social responsibility. Winners and participants of the intra-university sports tournaments were also recognized.

Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey addressed the gathering, reflecting on the university’s evolution over the past two and a half decades. “This institution stands where it is today due to the relentless efforts of its teachers, officers, and staff. It’s an emotional moment for me as I have been connected to AKTU since its inception,” he shared. He also acknowledged the contributions of previous vice chancellors and administrators in shaping the university’s legacy.

Prof. Pandey proudly highlighted AKTU’s recent NAAC accreditation with an ‘A’ grade, the first-ever evaluation for the institution. He noted AKTU’s leadership in adopting digital examination systems and launching Digilocker services, making it the first university in North India to do so. With the incorporation of blockchain technology in its systems, AKTU is setting benchmarks and emerging as a role model for other technical institutions.

BKTI MLA Yogesh Shukla, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest, lauded the university for empowering students academically while also fostering a strong sense of social awareness. He commended AKTU for including rural school children in the celebrations, thereby inspiring them to dream big. “This university is not just creating professionals; it is shaping responsible citizens,” he remarked.

Registrar-in-Charge Keshav Singh presented a comprehensive progress report detailing AKTU’s 25-year journey. Key academic leaders, including Prof. Vineet Kansal (Director, IET), Prof. Virendra Pathak (Director, CAS), and Prof. Vandana Sehgal (Dean, FOAP), also shared insights into the institution’s growth and transformation. A documentary film chronicling the university’s achievements over the years was also screened.

The evening culminated in a grand Kavi Sammelan, where eminent poets from across the country presented their thought-provoking and inspiring compositions. The cultural segment added a lyrical dimension to the day, echoing the university’s blend of technology and tradition.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who attended the poetry evening as the chief guest, praised AKTU for carving out a distinct space in the field of higher education. He emphasized the growing importance of Hindi as a global language and urged institutions to play a greater role in promoting linguistic and cultural pride.

Vice Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey extended a warm welcome to the guests and reiterated AKTU’s commitment to academic excellence, social outreach, and technological advancement. The event also included a felicitation of long-serving employees, recognizing their contribution since the university’s inception.

As the curtains came down on a day of reflection, celebration, and resolve, the 25th Foundation Day of AKTU stood out not only as a tribute to the past but also as a beacon of the university’s aspirations for the future.
