Akhilesh Yadav Visits Kaifi Azmi Academy, Reviews Cultural Contributions

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday visited the Kaifi Azmi Academy located in Nishatganj, Lucknow. He was accompanied by the party’s National Secretary, former Cabinet Minister and Member of the Legislative Council Rajendra Chaudhary, along with Samajwadi Party metropolitan president Fakir Siddiqui.

The Kaifi Azmi Academy in Lucknow primarily functions as an auditorium situated in the Nishatganj area and is named after renowned poet Kaifi Azmi. It is currently operated under the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi and has emerged as a major centre for art, cultural and literary activities in the state capital. The auditorium regularly hosts literary and cultural programmes, progressive discussions, serious debates, seminars and theatrical performances.

The proposal to establish the academy was initiated by noted actor Shabana Azmi and acclaimed screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar. During Akhilesh Yadav’s tenure as Chief Minister, the project received substantial financial support, enabling the auditorium to develop into a vibrant cultural space. The Samajwadi Party, known for promoting progressive and positive thinking, had ensured adequate patronage to the institution, also recognising its role in supporting mental well-being through cultural engagement.

Later in the day, Akhilesh Yadav visited Max Hospital to enquire about the health of former Leader of Opposition Ramgovind Chaudhary.

He also visited the Nishatganj residence of Samajwadi Party state secretary Preeti Tiwari, where hundreds of party workers and local residents gathered to welcome and felicitate him, reflecting strong public support and enthusiasm.
