Lucknow: Akhilesh Yadav, National President of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has launched a sharp diatribe on the BJP, alleging that its political approach is anti-people and detrimental to democratic values.
Addressing party workers from various districts at the party’s state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said the BJP indulges in deception in politics and has weakened democratic institutions. He alleged that law and order in the state has deteriorated significantly under the current regime, with police paraphernalia in disarray and healthcare services in poor condition, leaving poor without proper treatment.
Call for Preparedness for 2027 Elections
Yadav urged party workers to remain extra cautious for the 2027 Assembly elections, stressing that greater vigilance is required than during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. He alleged that attempts were being made to manipulate voter lists through fake signatures and questioned the inaction of the Election Commission.
He said that the public is seeking change and is ready to remove the BJP from power, expressing confidence that people want a Samajwadi Party government in the state.
Criticism of Governance and Infrastructure
The SP chief criticized the government’s performance across sectors, claiming that projects under the “smart city” initiative have failed to deliver results. He pointed to traffic congestion in major cities, including Lucknow, and alleged flaws in infrastructure planning such as the Green Corridor project.
He further accused the government of failing to establish new power plants in the past nine years and alleged irregularities in electricity billing through smart meters, causing distress to consumers.

Allegations on Farmers and Development
Yadav also alleged that the BJP government has neglected farmers’ interests and failed to create new development projects. He claimed that initiatives started during the Samajwadi Party government have either been discontinued or poorly managed.
Highlighting past achievements, he said his government introduced major infrastructure developments, including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which he described as a world-class project.
Corruption Charges and Political Appeal
Accusing the BJP of breaking all records of corruption, Yadav said that removing the party from power is essential to bring Uttar Pradesh back on the path of development.
Senior leaders, including Mata Prasad Pandey, Rajendra Chaudhary, and Shyam Lal Pal, were also present at the event. The address concluded with a call for grassroots mobilization, with Yadav urging party workers to reach out to voters and highlight what he termed as the government’s failures.
