Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing power and looting votes during elections, including the recent by-polls. Addressing party leaders and workers at the SP headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav said that democracy can only be protected if citizens remain vigilant “from voter registration to counting of votes.”
Yadav alleged that BJP has been deleting votes of the poor and manipulating the process. He recalled that in 2022, the SP had submitted a sworn affidavit to the Election Commission, listing 18,000 deleted voters, but no action was taken. “The Election Commission denied receiving affidavits, while we have receipts for each one,” he added.
Highlighting governance issues, Yadav attacked the BJP government over fertilizer scams, corruption in the Jal Jeevan Mission, failing law and order, closure of schools, and worsening crime rates. He said farmers, women, and common citizens are suffering under BJP’s rule, while corruption and atrocities rise unchecked.

“The truth of BJP is now before the people, and the poor will remove them from power,” Yadav declared. He added that only a Samajwadi Party government could restore order and development in the state.
Prominent leaders present included Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, MP Lalji Verma, former cabinet minister Rajendra Chaudhary, state president Shyam Lal Pal, and party secretary Awadhesh Singh.
