Akasa Air Partners with Noida International Airport to Establish First MRO Facility

Noida: In a major boost to India’s aviation infrastructure, Noida International Airport has entered into a strategic partnership with Akasa Air to establish the airline’s first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility within the airport premises. The move marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s aircraft maintenance ecosystem.

The proposed state-of-the-art MRO centre will provide comprehensive aircraft maintenance, repair, and technical services, creating a robust support network for the aviation industry. The initiative is also expected to enhance India’s domestic MRO capacity, enabling airlines to access high-quality maintenance services within the country and significantly reducing operational costs and turnaround time.

The development comes amid Uttar Pradesh’s rapid emergence as a key investment and infrastructure hub under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath. The establishment of the MRO facility at the upcoming airport is expected to position the state as a major centre for aviation, logistics, and high-tech industries.

Beyond strengthening aviation infrastructure, the project is set to generate large-scale employment opportunities and support skill development among local youth in areas such as aviation technology and aircraft maintenance. Experts believe it will also stimulate the regional economy and accelerate industrial growth.

The initiative aligns with the vision of both the Government of India and the Uttar Pradesh government to develop Noida International Airport as one of the country’s leading MRO hubs, thereby improving India’s self-reliance and global competitiveness in aviation services.

Christoph Schnellmann, Chief Executive Officer of Noida International Airport Ltd., said Akasa Air’s decision to establish its first MRO facility at the airport reinforces the vision of developing a world-class aviation hub in the region. He added that the partnership will strengthen India’s MRO capabilities while creating new employment and skill development opportunities.

Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, noted that with India’s aviation market expanding rapidly, building strong domestic MRO capabilities is essential. He emphasized that the collaboration with Noida International Airport forms an important part of the airline’s long-term growth strategy and will contribute to making India’s aviation sector more self-reliant.
