Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Takes Over as AOC-in-C, South Western Air Command

New Delhi | Air Marshal Tejinder Singh assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the South Western Air Command (SWAC) of the Indian Air Force on January 1, 2026. After taking over the appointment, the Air Marshal paid homage to the fallen heroes at the war memorial, reaffirming his commitment to the service of the nation.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Marshal Tejinder Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on June 13, 1987. A highly experienced aviator, he is a Category ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor with over 4,500 hours of flying experience. He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College and the prestigious National Defence College.

During a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has held a wide range of important command and staff appointments. His command tenures include leading a fighter squadron, a radar station, a premier fighter base, and serving as the Air Officer Commanding, Jammu and Kashmir.

His key staff appointments include roles at Command Headquarters, Air Headquarters, and Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS). These include assignments as Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-I), Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning), Air Commodore (Aerospace Safety), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Offensive), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Strategy), Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as the AOC-in-C, Training Command, where he oversaw the training and operational preparedness of the Indian Air Force.

In recognition of his distinguished and meritorious service, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh has been decorated with the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, conferred by the President of India.

As the new head of the South Western Air Command, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh brings with him vast operational experience, strategic insight, and leadership acumen, which are expected to further strengthen the operational readiness and combat capability of the Indian Air Force in a strategically vital region.
