Lucknow: In a festive relief for passengers ahead of Dussehra and Diwali, the Yogi Adityanath government has announced a fare reduction of nearly 10% on all air-conditioned bus services operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). The reduced fares will remain effective until further orders.
Passenger-Friendly Initiative
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh said the government is committed to providing better services for people across the state. He noted that this move would ensure affordable yet comfortable travel options during the festive season.
The discount will be applicable on popular services such as Janrath, Pink, Shatabdi, Volvo and AC sleeper buses. However, buses registered after January 1, 2024 will not be covered under this concession.
Revised Fare Structure (AC Bus Services):

3×2 Bus Service: Rs 1.45 per km
2×2 Bus Service: Rs 1.60 per km
High-end (Volvo) Buses: Rs 2.30 per km
AC Sleeper Coaches: Rs 2.10 per km
Focus on Revenue and Ridership
To ensure that the corporation’s overall revenue does not get affected, drivers and conductors posted on these buses will undergo special counseling sessions to encourage them to attract more passengers. The government hopes this measure will boost ridership while enhancing service quality.
