Lucknow: A workshop was organised  on the theme ‘Standardization of Devanagari Script’ by the Hindi Cell at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University. The program was graced by the presence of Dr. Sarvesh Kumar Mishra, Principal, Rajkiya Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Mishrikh, Sitapur, as the Chief Speaker, and Dr. Baljeet Kumar Srivastava, Program Coordinator and Assistant Director, Official Language, BBAU. At the outset, on behalf of the organizing committee, the Keynote Speaker was felicitated with a memento and an angavastram as a token of gratitude. Following this, Dr. Baljeet Kumar Srivastava welcomed all the participants of the program and acquainted everyone with the objectives and outline of the event.

Dr. Sarvesh Kumar Mishra, Principal of Government Women’s College, Mishrikh, Sitapur, while presenting his views, said that before learning any language, it is essential for a person to understand signs and symbols. In fact, the greatest feature of a language is that the more a person observes his surroundings, the better he develops the ability to express his thoughts and experiences. The Devanagari script is also unique in this respect, as since its inception it has maintained its distinct identity while contending with many parallel and competing languages and scripts. He explained that Devanagari does not only ensure accuracy of pronunciation, but also has a well-structured tradition of grammar, spelling, word formation, and sentence construction, which makes it scientifically strong and highly useful.

Dr. Mishra further stated that in the global context, the significance of both Devanagari script and Hindi language is continuously increasing. On one hand, it serves as a carrier of Indian culture, literature, and tradition, and on the other, in this technological era, its utility and reach have been further strengthened through digitization. Today, Hindi is being taught in many countries around the world, and special efforts are being made to make Devanagari compatible with computers, mobile devices, and artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized that Devanagari is not merely a medium of communication, but also a preserver of cultural identity and intellectual tradition. In this light, it can be rightly said that the relevance of Devanagari is not only significant in the Indian context but is equally important on a global scale.

Finally, Dr. Baljeet Kumar Srivastava delivered the vote of thanks. The program witnessed the presence of various teachers, research scholars, and students throughout the session.
