Lucknow: On International Plastic Bag Free Day, “Say No to Plastic” campaign was organized on a large scale with public participation. On International Plastic Bag Free Day, people were made aware under the ‘Say No to Plastic’ campaign. Lucknow Municipal Corporation took out a huge awareness rally. Along with this, about 2400 saplings were planted by planting saplings through the method of planning.
Apart from eminent people and businessmen of the city, common people also participated in this campaign. People were appealed not to use plastic in the rally. Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh, SP of 1090 Ruchika Chaudhary and officials of Urban Development Ministry were also present as the chief guest in the program. The Municipal Commissioner led the rally.
The awareness rally reached Hazratganj Chauraha via Janpath Market, Halwasiya and LIC and returned to Hazratganj Chauraha. During this, people were given the message of giving up plastic through slogans written on posters and banners. Jute bags were distributed to those who used plastic bags. Awareness message was also given by putting stickers on the shops. A large number of college students, social organizations and common people participated in the campaign.
During this, Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh said that he wholeheartedly thanks all the organizations and people who supported the Municipal Corporation in not using plastic. He told that the biggest problem in the city is due to the use of plastic. Many times cattle eat plastic.
Due to which they become victims of serious diseases and die. Municipal Commissioner said that almost all the hand pumps in the city get choked due to plastic getting stuck. This time also cleaning the hand pump was a challenge for us. He said that the support received from the media to make this campaign successful is commendable and this campaign will definitely be successful and people will also be fully aware to not use plastic.
Under the ‘Say No to Plastic’ campaign, the Municipal Corporation team also went to houses and shops on the route of the awareness rally and put stickers. On which slogans against the use of plastic were written and a message was given to the people to not use plastic.
