Varanasi: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, a deeply devotional and symbolic initiative is unfolding at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, enriching Sanatan traditions and elevating the spiritual grandeur of the festival. As part of this year’s Mahashivratri celebrations, sacred offerings and goodwill gifts from renowned temples and revered deities across the country are being presented to Lord Vishwanath, marking a unique expression of collective faith.
In this sacred sequence, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board sent a divine offering and prasad for Lord Shri Vishweshwar (Shri Kashi Vishwanath Mahadev), which was received at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust office on February 7, ahead of the Mahashivratri festival.
The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for this pious gesture. The offering from the Shakti Peeth of Mata Vaishno Devi to Lord Vishwanath in Kashi is being viewed as a living symbol of the eternal union between Shiva and Shakti. On the sacred occasion of Mahashivratri, this divine gift is expected to become a source of deep devotion, faith, and spiritual experience for devotees, while powerfully reflecting the essence of Sanatan culture.
The Temple Trust also conveyed its appreciation and reverence for the Shrine Board for sending the sacred offering on the occasion of Mahashivratri. In a gesture of mutual devotion, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the enduring spiritual bond between major centres of Sanatan faith by planning to send offerings to Mata Vaishno Devi on her principal festival on behalf of Lord Vishwanath.
Assamese Attire to Adorn Lord Vishwanath and Goddess Parvati

In addition to offerings from various regions, special ceremonial attire for Lord Vishwanath and Goddess Gauri is also arriving from different parts of the country. This Mahashivratri, the deities will be adorned in traditional garments sourced from the historic city of Sivasagar in Assam.
The chal pratima (processional idol) of Lord Vishwanath will be dressed in the traditional Assamese male attire known as Cheleng and Gosoma. The regal and divine appearance created by this attire is expected to enhance the splendour and dignity of the sacred Shiva–Parvati wedding ceremony, adding a unique cultural dimension to the celebrations.
The initiative highlights the spirit of unity, devotion, and cultural diversity that defines Sanatan traditions, as Kashi prepares to witness a spiritually uplifting Mahashivratri celebration.
