District Magistrate Inspects AERO Hearing Centres in Lucknow East
Lucknow: Under the Special Intensive Revision programme of electoral rolls for Assembly constituencies, the process of distribution of notices, filing of claims and objections, hearings of notices, and uploading of related data is progressing continuously after the publication of draft electoral rolls. To ensure that the revision programme is completed in an effective, transparent, and time-bound manner, regular hearings are being conducted by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) deployed in each Assembly constituency.

As part of this ongoing exercise, District Magistrate and District Election Officer Vishakh G. conducted a surprise inspection of the Block Resource Centre (BRC) and AERO hearing centres located at the Vikas Bhawan under Assembly Constituency–173, Lucknow East, to review the on-ground status of the notice hearing process.
During the inspection, the District Election Officer closely examined the arrangements available at the Voters Registration Centre (VRC) located at Vikas Bhawan. Officials informed him that, in addition to the VRC room, the hearing process is also being conducted at multiple locations within the Vikas Bhawan complex. These include the offices of the District Programme Officer (ICDS) on the second floor, the Project Officer, NEDA, and the District Backward Classes Welfare Officer, to ensure smooth handling of public hearings.

The District Magistrate visited all these offices and observed the hearing proceedings. While interacting with officials, he issued clear instructions to ensure that additional seating arrangements are provided outside the hearing rooms for the convenience of the general public. He emphasised that voter-related services must be citizen-friendly and that adequate facilities should be ensured so that people attending the hearings do not face any inconvenience.
The District Election Officer reiterated the importance of maintaining transparency, accuracy, and efficiency throughout the electoral roll revision process. He directed concerned officers to ensure timely disposal of notices, proper documentation of hearings, and prompt uploading of data so that the integrity of the electoral rolls is maintained.
The inspection reinforced the administration’s commitment to completing the Special Intensive Revision programme smoothly while safeguarding the rights of electors and ensuring accessible and efficient voter services for all.
