Lucknow: In a significant step towards empowering youth and promoting self-reliance, the Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has developed the ‘Kaushal Disha’ portal, a digital platform aimed at providing employment-oriented skill training to young people across the state. The initiative focuses especially on rural youth and women, enabling them to access free skill training, online assessment, and certification from the comfort of their homes.
The ‘Kaushal Disha’ portal serves as a strong digital pillar of the state’s inclusive skill development policy, with the objective of bridging the skill gap in rural areas and preparing youth for wage employment as well as self-employment. The platform reflects the Yogi government’s continued commitment to linking youth with skills, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods while advancing Uttar Pradesh towards the goal of a Developed India.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, said that ‘Kaushal Disha’ is an online skill education platform featuring a simple registration process, self-learning modules, online evaluations, and certification. The portal offers training in 10 key sectors selected under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 1.0, including IT-ITES, tourism and hospitality, electronics, healthcare services, apparel and ready-made garments, home furnishing, retail, and logistics.
He added that the portal will provide free skill training to rural poor youth and economically weaker sections, significantly enhancing their employability.

The initiative is expected to be particularly beneficial for women who are unable to attend physical training centres due to social or family constraints. Through smartphones and internet access, women can now acquire skills and certification from home, strengthening the state’s women empowerment efforts.
By integrating skill development with technology and innovation, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to build a strong, inclusive, and future-ready skill ecosystem, creating new employment opportunities and fostering self-reliance across the state.
