‘Khelega Bharat, Khilega Bharat’ Is the Core Mantra of Samaras Marathon: Jaiveer Singh

Ravi and Shashilata Clinch Top Honours in 5-Km Run at Lucknow

Lucknow: On the occasion of National Youth Day, the Samaras Marathon was successfully organized in Lucknow under the aegis of the Abhyuday Youth Club, with the objective of promoting fitness, discipline and social harmony among the youth. Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh, flagged off the marathon and emphasized that such events are essential to realize the spirit of “Khelega Bharat, Khilega Bharat.” He said the Samaras Marathon inspires young people toward a healthy, positive and united society.

MLC from the Graduate Constituency Avneesh Singh attended the event as a special guest, while personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were also present, lending their support to the initiative.

Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the 5-kilometre marathon was held in the morning along the Kudiaghat (Green Corridor Road)–Ghantaghar route in Lucknow. Male and female runners from various states across the country participated enthusiastically, displaying remarkable sportsmanship and discipline throughout the event.

Results

Boys’ Category

  • First: Ravi Kumar Pal – 15 minutes 32 seconds

  • Second: Islam Ali – 16 minutes 02 seconds

  • Third: Rajesh Singh – 16 minutes 09 seconds

Girls’ Category

  • First: Shashilata – 18 minutes 40 seconds

  • Second: Varsha Singh – 20 minutes 10 seconds

  • Third: Srishti Singh – 20 minutes 30 seconds

Prize Distribution

In the men’s category, the first, second and third position holders were awarded ₹10,000, ₹5,000 and ₹3,000 respectively. Additionally, seven runners received consolation prizes of ₹500 each. Similarly, a total of 10 prizes were awarded in the women’s category.

Message of Fitness and Social Harmony

Addressing the gathering, Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that sports make youth physically and mentally strong while fostering brotherhood, discipline and positive thinking. He praised the Samaras Marathon for promoting unity and social harmony through sports.

Collective Effort Behind Success

The successful organization of the marathon was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Madhavendra Singh, Manoj Singh, Anil Verma, Dr. Virendra Kumar and Dinesh Singh Rana, among others.
Notably, 50 cadets of the 20 UP NCC Girls Battalion from Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University served as volunteers. Sent with the support of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajay Taneja, the cadets worked under the guidance of Dr. Mukesh Kumar, with special support from Dr. Bushra Alvera.

The Samaras Marathon concluded on a highly successful note, emerging not just as a sporting competition but as an inspiring initiative that delivered a powerful message of energy, unity and social harmony among the youth.
