Lucknow/New Delhi: India’s largest-read newspaper Dainik Jagran has launched its flagship initiative “Jagran Yuva Sansad: Desh Ke Kal Mein, Aaj Banein Bhagidaar”, aimed at nurturing the next generation of leaders and policy thinkers by strengthening their understanding of parliamentary democracy and civic responsibility.
Jagran Yuva Sansad is a visionary platform designed to shape the intellectual and ethical framework of young Indians through structured debates, discussions, and parliamentary-style deliberations. The initiative is driven by the belief that India’s most complex challenges cannot be addressed with outdated ideas, but require fresh perspectives rooted in constitutional values and informed dialogue.
With nearly 65 per cent of India’s population under the age of 35, the campaign underscores that the active and conscious participation of youth is crucial to the success of the world’s largest democracy. Through this initiative, Dainik Jagran seeks to instil democratic values, leadership skills, and a sense of responsible citizenship among young minds.
Jagran Yuva Sansad offers an alternative to uninformed and often misleading debates prevalent on social media. Instead, it provides a disciplined forum where participants are trained to engage in parliamentary procedures, policy-oriented discussions, and evidence-based arguments, while staying grounded in the constitutional ideals of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity.
Three Core Objectives
The initiative focuses on three key goals:
-
Strengthening democracy by educating youth about democratic institutions and processes.
-
Creating a learning ecosystem that encourages critical thinking, debate, reflection, and responsible citizenship.
-
Providing young participants with practical exposure to citizen participation in the legislative process.

Parliamentary Experience in Delhi
As part of the programme, 100 selected Jagran Yuva Sansads from across the country will participate in a three-day residential session in New Delhi, structured on the lines of the Indian Parliament. Participants will take oath as members of the ruling party and the opposition, debate select Bills and issues of national importance, and propose amendments.
Bills passed during the sessions—including Private Member Bills introduced by the youth—along with key debates and suggested amendments, will be prominently published in Dainik Jagran.
Prior to the Delhi session, shortlisted participants will undergo a 15-day online training programme, guided by experts, covering the fundamentals of parliamentary democracy, legislative processes, and effective debating skills.
Nationwide Participation
Any young citizen of India up to the age of 25 can apply. Dainik Jagran will organise debate and discussion sessions across colleges and universities in multiple cities, with separate tracks for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dates and details will be published in local editions of the newspaper. Selection will be based on subject knowledge, communication skills, and democratic conduct.
Through Jagran Yuva Sansad, Dainik Jagran calls upon educational institutions to encourage their meritorious students to participate in this national movement, fostering informed leadership and meaningful youth engagement in India’s democratic journey.
