Lucknow: The University of Lucknow commenced the first day of its 105th Foundation Day Week with grand cultural fervour, enthusiasm and a vibrant display of the institution’s artistic heritage. The celebrations, held on the university campus, showcased a series of performances under the theme “Sanskriti”, reflecting the cultural richness and youthful energy of the students.
The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional lamp-lighting ritual by distinguished guests — Prof. Arup Chakraborty (Lucknow University Alumni Foundation), Dean, Student Welfare Prof. V. K. Sharma, and Dean, Faculty of Management. Extending her greetings and best wishes, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor highlighted the university’s legacy of academic excellence, its commitment to inclusive growth, and the cultural depth that continues to define the institution even after 105 glorious years.
The cultural segment, held from 2 PM to 5 PM, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across departments. The main attractions included:
- Classical and Folk Dance Performances
- Vocal and Instrumental Music (including tabla, guitar and singing)
- Theatrical Acts and Skits
The event began with a captivating Ganesh Vandana dance by Kashish Jaiswal and troupe, followed by a graceful Ghoomar performance by Deepika Raj. A traditional Rajasthani folk song rendered by Anushka Tiwari added a vibrant regional flavour to the celebrations.
One of the most memorable moments of the afternoon came from Shruti and group, whose soulful presentation of a Chhath Geet deeply moved the audience. The devotional folk piece added an emotional and culturally resonant atmosphere, drawing loud applause.

Adding to the diversity of performances, Vinayak Singh and his team staged a powerful skit on “Unemployment”, highlighting social concerns with humour, sensitivity and impactful messaging. The presentation not only entertained but also prompted thoughtful reflection among the audience.
Students played a pivotal role in the programme’s management and execution. Student coordinators and anchors Vinayak Singh and Pariniti conducted the event with confidence and finesse, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of performances.
The first day of the cultural celebrations of Lucknow University’s 105th Foundation Day Week proved to be more than just a festive gathering — it emerged as a celebration of talent, equality of opportunity and the university’s commitment to nurturing holistic development. Faculty members, guests and students came together to make the occasion truly memorable.
