Lucknow: The 28th Annual International Conference of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) commenced at Integral University on Saturday with an insightful inaugural session focused on the theme “One Health: Precision, Prevention and Prediction-Based Health Approach.”
The IAPSM UP–Uttarakhand International Conference 2025 brought together leading experts, policymakers, researchers and students to discuss the increasingly crucial concept of One Health—an integrated approach that recognises the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health.
“Human, Animal and Environmental Health Are Deeply Interlinked”: Amit Kumar Ghosh
The conference was formally inaugurated by Amit Kumar Ghosh, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Medical Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, he emphasised that the One Health framework is no longer optional but essential in today’s rapidly evolving health landscape.
“One Health is the most significant health concept of our time. The health of humans, animals and the environment is deeply interconnected. The COVID-19 pandemic taught us that health challenges do not recognise boundaries,” he said. Ghosh stressed that data-driven policies, strong coordination and robust preparedness are the pillars of a resilient healthcare system.
He further highlighted that while Uttar Pradesh now has over 80 medical colleges, the ability to overcome emerging challenges will depend on collective effort, scientific collaboration and community-oriented strategies.
